lick it like a lollipop
I wanted to blog about the public high school system. My buddy, ethan, and I were talking on the phone Friday on my way to work and all we do is talk bull shit. Well I asked him how college was going for him and it seemed to me that his situation was awfully similar to mine. We continued talk about the situation and picked out that the primary cause of our problems came from going to a public school. In college you must be much disciplined and have excellent work ethic. Well as far as I thought, I have great work ethic and good time management. Both of us do I think. Apparently not though. In high school I held a full time job as a dishwasher, went to school, worked on my moms boyfriends farm, and hunted. The only difference is highschool was a joke. Neither me nor ethan ever studied for tests, or did homework outside of school except major projects. And everything worked out. Here I am attempting to hold a full time job, take care of the crops and animals, and also have a social life while going to school. Its not working. College you actually have to study apparently. College expects you to be more involved which I don’t know if they realize is hard to do with so much other shit going on in life. But what I am saying is that had high school prepared us for college better, it would not have come as such a blow when I walked across the bridge and found out what college is all about. Now that times pressed on I’m getting better at time management, but still need improvement. I blame public high schools for this underestimation of college.
