cheese
This weekend I had a bit of trouble from the game warden. I really don’t want to go into great detail on everything that happened but while thinking about it, it gave me a great topic to discuss with the class room. My argument is that hunters should not have to tag deer. Hear me out. The state does not own the deer on these lands. I had this discussion with the game warden and he said what you have to understand Rodney is that the conservation department would have no money if deer were not tagged. He said if the conservation department had no money, then all the trees would be chopped down and there would be no more hunting, the rivers would be polluted and ethics would no longer apply when taking deer. Well he has a point but really tagging deer is a hassle anyway and I have a solution to his argument. I don’t know if everyone knows this but in order to hunt every other type of game certain stamps are needed in order to kill those game. Ducks and geese you must have a Federal and state stamp to shoot birds. I realize that hunters already pay for habitat stamps to shoot deer ad that the deer tags are an extra source of income for the state. But instead of forcing the public to pay for the deer they shoot, why not make the hunters pay more just to be in the woods? If the habitat stamp had a higher cost such as sixty dollars instead of twenty and hunters would not have to tag deer, I strongly believe that this system would work better. Most hunters only bag one or two deer a year anyway and many don’t even shoot one in the first place. The deer on these lands are over populated anyway.

My dad hunts and I hunt and I agree with you to an extent. However, I see it a different way. Yeah, tagging can be a hassle but if there is no tagging and no limit, what is going to happen in 10 or 15 years? I mean, right now, yes deer are overpopulated. However, if there tagging is gone and there are people getting deer left and right, they will become scarce or even extinct. I know this is a long shot haha. But I think that the tagging system is beneficial, even though it can be a burden.
ReplyDeleteAww, that would be a pain if you have to obey the law when you hunt. You know what would really be a hassle? Hunting something that could hunt you back, people say that if they didn't kill these animals then they would overpopulate. What about humans? take china for example, they are way overpopulated in a small area, so we should all go over there and kill them to prevent this. I think that hunting for sport should be outlawed unless you are gonna use all the deer.
ReplyDeleteInteresting topic, Rodney. I'd have to be more familiar with hunting to make a comment on it. I like the problem/solution approach to your blog posting.
ReplyDeletefuckin animal activist bastert. just because people are hunting deer for sport does not mean taht the deer are not gettng eatin. its illegal to shoot, take a picture, and leave the deer. second, if your against killing deer cuz they cant kill back then i suppose your against killing cows and chickens ect.? its fucking deer man.
ReplyDeleteI am not an animal activist, I just feel that hunting animals is for trigger happy people who like to kill defensless animals for sport. I am not against killing cows or chickens because they are bred for that specific purpose. So by saying "It's fucking deer" then you are saying they are just worthless animals. I just think more people need to respect nature and not want to shoot it.
ReplyDeleteit is a natural right to evolve and overcome the hurdles that make life difficult such as hunting for food, why is harmful for many people to think because many hunters want to have fun over coming the obsticle of eating that were evil. why is it that that we need 50 a year to eat natural game animals its utterly riducalis
